The Change Agent plans and manages the realization of the benefits through the integration of the new capability within the business practices, by creating or changing current business processes. There is a high emphasis is on his or her knowledge of the business processes and the organization’s strategic objectives.

There should be one Change Agent for each intervention, and there may be a Senior Change Agent focused on a larger impact. The change agent can be either external or internal to the organization.

A change champion is the facilitator of a change team. The Change Champion is not the project leader and is not held accountable for outcomes (the team is), being responsible for ensuring the team reaches consensus, stay focused, follow agreed-upon rules, removing obstacles and protecting the team from outside distractions. An operational role responsible for planning and governance and for overseeing the successful delivery of the program’s output/product.
