Shiftup: Business Agility & Innovation Leader
For individuals and organizations that want to change and innovate faster
About this Certification
For individuals and organizations that want to change and innovate faster
This workshop teaches the principles and common practices of Lean-Agile business innovation through a combination of facilitator-led instruction, peer discussion, and team exercises. Attendees understand how innovation works across the lifecycle of a business, and it makes them aware of their role in the creation and delivery of innovative products and services in continuously changing environments.

Jurgen Appelo, the creator of Management 3.0, has launched this new series of workshops focused on Business Agility. Offering a certification in collaboration with ICAgile, this innovative 2-day immersive learning experience gives the foundation knowledge for individuals to help their organizations change and innovate faster. Specifically, it answers these questions:

  • How can we have something like “a startup culture” in our company?
  • How can we get new products to become fast-growing scaleups?
  • How do we reorganize ourselves for optimal execution and innovation?

Shiftup is a business agility learning path with collaborative learning, remote coaching and peer-to-peer exchange. The workshop is a stepping stone to becoming an innovation leader, with other workshops complementing the learner's journey of development.

Why the Shiftup learning program?

Because being Agile is not a goal in itself. A more sensible goal is for organizations to survive and thrive through continuous innovation. That’s where the learning should start for people: how to be an innovation leader. Business agility is just an essential part of getting there.

Because a workshop is just a stepping stone on people’s learning paths. The total picture includes self-paced learning, deliberate practice, coaching, assessments, and the peer-to-peer exchange of experiences. The Shiftup program hopes to cover the complete learning path.

Because there is a need to make learning and behavioral change more fun and engaging. Most change programs are quite dull and demotivating. They don’t invite people to change and improve by tapping into their intrinsic motivation. We believe we can do much better.

The Shiftup Business Agility & Innovation Leader is a two-day workshop that teaches the principles and common practices of Lean-Agile business innovation. It is a combination of facilitator-led instruction, peer discussion, and team exercises. The workshop helps attendees understand how innovation works across the lifecycle of a business, and it makes them aware of their role in the creation and delivery of innovative products and services in continuously changing environments.

What You Will Learn

In two days, you will see that the basic unit for innovation is the strategic business model. You will understand how each business model evolves from exploration and effectiveness to exploitation and efficiency. And you will learn how managers, leaders, designers, and developers need to organize their work differently to create an organization that can reinvent itself continuously and that can scale tremendously.

The aim of this workshop is not to simply review dozens of practices and buzzwords that will be well-known (to some participants). Instead, the goal is to take a higher perspective and achieve a foundational understanding of how all these tools fit into the larger picture of the innovative, evolving company as a family of business models with individual business life cycles. It is the perfect starting point for organizations aiming to achieve a coherent approach to a startup and scaleup culture within a corporate environment, with an equal emphasis on both disruptive and sustaining innovation.

The Shiftup Business Agility & Innovation Leader workshop teaches participants to apply Lean-Agile thinking to all aspects of business innovation. That’s why attendees automatically qualify to become an ICAgile Certified Professional in Business Agility Foundations (ICP-BAF).

Certification

Certified Professional in Business Agility Foundations (ICP-BAF)

This workshop covers strict learning objectives set forth by ICAgile. After participative attendance and the completion of the post-workshop requirements, the facilitator qualifies participants to become an ICAgile Certified Professional in Business Agility Foundations (ICP-BAF). If the facilitator identifies a lack of achievement of the learning objectives, additional post-workshop materials may need to be submitted before certification. The certification process does not rely on testing, relying instead on active participation and engagement with the material.
