Coaching

Developing capabilities to ensure effective outcomes.

Agile coaches help train corporate teams on the agile methodology and oversee the development of agile teams to ensure effective outcomes for the organization. They are responsible for guiding teams through the implementation process and are tasked with encouraging workers and leadership to embrace the agile method. The agile coach’s ultimate goal is to arm agile teams with the right knowledge, tools and training so that they’ll be able to use agile to its full potential.

Implementing agile can help streamline processes, but it isn’t easy to make significant changes in an organization. Encouraging everyone to get on board with a new methodology requires significant effort on the part of management. Agile coaches giving guidance can help teams navigate through the rough patches - specially in the early period when the team or management questions the value of agile.

An agile coach will keep businesses on task while they embark on building internal agile development teams — which can help save time, money and resources. The coach serves as an objective party to help navigate common roadblocks and pain points in the adoption process. Before they leave, the goal is to have a fully functioning agile team that is energized and ready to embrace the methodology.

Team Building

Team development in agile projects has a greater effect in improving organizational performance than financial measures, outpacing both objective performance as well as the teams' subjective supervisory ratings. The most effective efforts occur when team members are interdependent, knowledgeable and experienced and when organizational leadership actively establishes and supports the team.

Giving Feedback

When properly given, feedback improves an individual's situation and/or performance by identifying learning opportunities. Offering feedback requires that we pay attention to and do many things effectively and simultaneously, without being harsh, critical or offensive.

Mentoring

Mentoring is a process for the informal transmission of knowledge, social capital, and the psychosocial support perceived by the recipient as relevant to work, career, or professional development; mentoring entails informal communication, usually face-to-face and during a sustained period of time, between a person who is perceived to have greater relevant knowledge, wisdom, or experience (the mentor) and a person who is perceived to have less (the protégé).
