The Change Agent plans and manages the realization of the benefits through the integration of the new capability within the business practices, by creating or changing current business processes. There is a high emphasis is on his or her knowledge of the business processes and the organization’s strategic objectives.

There should be one Change Agent for each intervention, and there may be a Senior Change Agent focused on a larger impact. The change agent can be either external or internal to the organization.


  • Develop profiles on stakeholders
  • Define the interest of each affected group
  • Estimate intervention impact on stakeholders
  • Design/Improve business processes and practices
  • Prepare affected business areas for transition
  • Resolve intervention impediments

Skills and Attributes

A change agent is a behavioral scientist who knows how to get people in an organization involved in solving their own problems. A change agent's main strength is a comprehensive knowledge of human behavior, expertise in the behavioral sciences, and the support of a number of intervention techniques. This profile has a strong psychological background.
